New Student Orientation Session

So you’re admitted, now what?

Welcome to Waycross College! As a first-time freshman you’re bound to have a lot of questions about Waycross College. New Student Orientation is available to help answer your questions, provide an introduction to the college, and help you feel more comfortable here at WC.

Our orientation program is designed to give you an overview of the many campus resources available to make your experience at Waycross College a success. You will learn about student life, financial aid, academic resources, and you learn basic information about registration and course planning for your first semester. You’ll even meet with an advisor and register for classes!!

Please note that only accepted students will be eligible to register.

Parent/Guest Session

While students register for classes, parents and guests are invited to tour the campus and attend a session that answers remaining questions and more. In addition, we will discuss your student’s transition to college and how you can best support their success.

Please note that because parents/guests cannot attend registration with their students, course selection and class load should be discussed prior to attending orientation.

New Student Orientation is held at Waycross College prior to the start of the Fall and Spring terms. All students are encouraged to attend an orientation session to ensure the widest variety of classes from which to choose during registration. Orientation will last approximately 4 hours, not including check-in. Lunch is provided, but optional, for both the morning and afternoon sessions. If you are attending lunch, please make sure to designate accordingly on your registration form.

First –time freshman will not be allowed to pre-register for classes at Waycross College without having attending orientation. Transfer students are strongly encouraged to attend. Please note that in order to register for orientation, you must be fully accepted to Waycross College. If placement testing is required, please note that all testing and retesting must be completed before attending orientation.

Orientation Checklist

Before attending Orientation, you should make sure to complete the following:

You have completed and submitted all aspects to your admissions application.
You have received an acceptance letter in the mail.
If you are seeking financial aid, you should complete the 2010-2011 Free Application for Federal Student Aid at www.fafsa.ed.gov. The Office of Financial Aid must have received this information prior to orientation in order to discuss your financial aid status.
