So you’re admitted, now what?

Welcome to South Georgia State College - Waycross campus!   As a first-time freshman you’re bound to have a lot of questions about us.  New Student Orientation is available to help answer your questions, provide an introduction to the college, and help you feel more comfortable here at SGSC. 

Our orientation program is designed to give you an overview of the many campus resources available to make your experience at South Georgia State College a success. You will learn about student life, financial aid, academic resources, and you learn basic information about registration and course planning for your first semester.   You will even meet with an advisor and register for classes!!

Please note that only accepted students will be eligible to register. 

2013 SGSC Student Orientation and Registration Details

New Student Orientation is held at South Georgia State College prior to the start of the Fall and Spring terms.  All students are encouraged to attend an orientation session to ensure the widest variety of classes from which to choose during registration.  Orientation will last approximately 2 hours, not including check-in. 

First –time freshman will not be allowed to pre-register for classes at South Georgia State College without having attending orientation.   Transfer students are strongly encouraged to attend.  Please note that in order to register for orientation, you must be fully accepted to South Georgia State College.  If placement testing is required, please note that all testing and retesting must be completed before attending orientation. 

Orientation Checklist

Before attending Orientation, you should make sure to complete the following:

  1.  You have completed and submitted all aspects to your admissions application.
  2.  You have received an acceptance letter in the mail.
  3.  If you are seeking financial aid, you should complete the 2012-2013 Free Application for Federal Student Aid at www.fafsa.ed.gov.  The Office of Financial Aid must have received this information prior to orientation in order to discuss your financial aid status.
