Everyone
at Waycross welcomes you to our college!
Our
beautiful campus of 150 tree-laden acres contains modern,
well-kept buildings which sparkle inside; abundant parking
lots; a helpful and responsive staff; and, most importantly,
a highly qualified faculty dedicated to student
success. Our faculty could be at any of the
3,700 colleges and universities in our country, but they choose
to be at Waycross, because they value and appreciate teaching
undergraduate students. Already, in my short time at Waycross,
alumni have been quick to tell me of their positive experiences
with faculty when they were on campus.
Our
students represent a wide variety of backgrounds--traditional
students right out of high school, slightly older men and
women who hold full-time jobs, single parents who work day
and night classes around family and jobs, or individuals in
their 50's and 60's who yearn for more knowledge and understanding
of our world and themselves. Over 75% of our students benefit
from state, federal, or Waycross College financial assistance.
We
prepare our students to succeed wherever they go after Waycross.
While most of our students complete their first two years
of college before continuing their four-year degree at another
public or private college or university, many remain on campus
to complete their bachelor's degree through cooperative programs
with other schools that we host at Waycross.
We
have been a proud member of the University System of Georgia
for 30 years. We seek to be a very high-quality institution;
we make it easy for people to pursue their higher education,
and we are very student-oriented. Browse these web pages,
come browse our campus, and meet the 75 faculty and staff
who will work hard to serve you.
I
look forward to meeting you!
Sincerely,
David A. Palmer
