I was born and raised in Yazoo City, Mississippi, and was educated at The University of Mississippi , where I earned a B.A. in English, an M.A. in English, and completed the coursework for a Ph.D. I moved to Waycross, Georgia, when I joined the faculty of Waycross College in 1991. My interests include reading, writing, singing, painting, and traveling. Favorite authors include Emily Brontë, Edgar Allan Poe, Thomas Hardy, Charles Dickens, O. Henry, Alfred Lord Tennyson, Jonathan Gash, Caroline Hart, and Chelsea Quinn Yarbro. I enjoy many different types of music and am particularly interested in folk music, as well as folklore and folk literature. Favorite artists include most of the Pre-Raphaelites, Michelangelo, Fragonard, and Escher, and I have a growing interest in the decorative arts. If you plan to enroll in one of my courses, you might be interested in reading my teaching philosophy.
