Creating a MySpace™ Page
• Choose a figure appropriate to the course and approved by the
instructor (historical figure, literary
figure or character, legendary figure) and open a MySpace™ account at
MySpace.com to establish your page.
• Any graphics, backgrounds, music, etc. you choose to include must be
appropriate for the figure portrayed. Keep documentation of sources
used as you will be required to submit an annotated bibliography of
sources consulted. Review the course syllabus for research criteria.
• Write an accurate biographical sketch of at least 150 words for the
“About Me” field.
• List at least two persons contemporary to the figure portrayed for
the “Who I’d Like to Meet” field.
• Include appropriate hobbies for the “General Interests” field.
• Write a minimum of five blog entries: one describing an event current
to the time of the figure’s lifetime; one reacting to a fashion trend
of the figure’s lifetime; one responding to a major artwork created
during the figure’s lifetime; one providing a personal reflection of an
event in which the figure was involved; and one providing a statement
of the legacy left by the figure. Each entry must be at least 200 words
in length and must conform to the standards of formal writing.
• Provide as accurate and as much information as possible in the
“Details” fields (status, orientation, hometown, body type, ethnicity,
religion, zodiac, etc.).
• Use your imagination to respond how you imagine the figure would to
favorite music, movies, television, books, and heroes questions.
• Use Standard English for all writing components of the page (no
errors in spelling or grammar).
• Keep design neat and readable.
• When your page is complete, forward it to me at sselby@waycross.edu.
