In celebration of National Library Week, the Waycross College Library sponsored “Lit Lines at Lunch” April 12 in the Administrative Building’s commons area. Contestants had the choice of presenting an original or existing short story, poem, or monologue that illustrated “Belonging,” the theme of National Library Week. The presentations were judged by a panel of faculty members on how well the contestants used their voice to convey the idea, emotion, and attitude of the work they chose. In the original work category, Khadijah Barefield (top photo, center) of Ware County captured first place with her own monologue entitled “Red and White.” Marlena Norman (top photo, left) of Pierce County took second place. In the existing work category, Donna Boatright (bottom photo, left) of Appling County won first place reading the poem “Crossing Over” by Chris Mann. Sara Abernathy (bottom photo, center) of Ware County finished second. Lynn Kelly, WC’s director of library services, congratulated all four winners. The first place winners received a $25 gift card from Walmart.
