McLeod named GCAA Player of the Week

January 19, 2012

Adam McLeod has been named the Georgia Collegiate Athletic Association’s Player of the Week for the week of Jan. 17.

McLeod, a 6’1” sophomore from Fairburn, Ga., had 23 points, five rebounds, and three assists Jan. 11 against East Georgia College.  His rebound and assist totals were season highs.  Against Atlanta Metro Jan. 14, McLeod finished with 22 points and three assists.

McLeod shot 63 percent (12-of-19) from the three-point line over the course of both games.

"I was excited when coach told me I received the Player of the Week honors,” said McLeod, who sat out six games this season with a hand injury.  “This season has been tough coming off the injury.  All the work coach had me doing while I couldn't practice seemed like it would never end, but it has truly paid off.  I am so thankful for the honor.  It is a team honor more than an individual honor."

"Adam is a tremendous shooter.  For him to hit a streak like this is not surprising at all to us,” said head coach Cory Baldwin.  “He has had many games where he shot the ball well for us. The parts I'm more impressed with, though, is how much better he has rebounded the ball, defended, and done a great job of feeding the post."

WC (13-3, 3-1 GCAA) returns home Saturday, Jan. 21 to play Chattahoochee Tech.  The Chattahoochee Tech game is the first of three straight home games for the Swamp Foxes.

Tip for the Jan. 21 game is set for 7 p.m.  General admission to all regular season home games is five dollars with children five and under admitted free.

Waycross College has been a proud member of the University System of Georgia since the College’s founding in 1976.
