The Waycross College Swamp Foxes are still undefeated after defeating the Brewton-Parker College (JV) Barons Nov. 29, 75-43.
Darius Tookes led the Swamp Foxes (7-0) with 18 points, eight rebounds, and six steals. Robert Powell finished with 12 points and six rebounds, while Andrew Lawrence and Stan Maxwell each had ten points in the win.
Head coach Cory Baldwin was pleased with his team’s effort, especially after how Brewton-Parker has played other teams in WC’s conference this season.
“We felt this game was going to be the first real challenge for our defense,” he said. “They (Brewton-Parker) had already scored 100 or more points three times this season. They beat Albany Tech and didn’t lose by much to Gordon College. Both of those teams are in our conference. I believe we answered the call tonight by holding them to under 50 points.”
WC’s next home game is Saturday, Dec. 10 against Tennessee Temple University (JV). Tip for the game is set for 7 p.m. General admission to all regular season home games is five dollars with children five and under admitted free.Waycross College has been a proud member of the University System of Georgia since the college’s founding in 1976.
