Waycross College’s men’s basketball team took advantage of a well-balanced scoring attack to notch their second win of the season Nov. 5, defeating the Southern Crescent Technical College Tigers, 81-50.
Adam McLeod led the Swamp Foxes (2-0) with 14 points, four rebounds, and three assists. Obie Foreman finished with 12 points, while KeShaun Mayfield had 11 points. Darius Tookes contributed nine points in the win and, more importantly, grabbed nine rebounds.
The Tigers utilized a zone defense the entire game, which forced the Swamp Foxes to play at a much slower pace. While giving credit to the Tigers and their game plan, head coach Cory Baldwin also credited the Swamp Foxes for adapting to the change.
“I thought they (Southern Crescent) did a great job controlling the tempo,” said Baldwin. “Yet we never trailed and did a good job of rebounding and using our size advantage.”
The Swamp Foxes will play their third home game in five days this Monday, Nov. 7 against the junior varsity squad from Lee University. Tip for the game is set for 7 p.m. General admission to all home games is five dollars with children five and under admitted free.Waycross College has been a proud member of the University System of Georgia since the college’s founding in 1976.
