In a final scrimmage before the start of the regular season, Waycross College’s men’s basketball team will face the College of Coastal Georgia Mariners Wednesday, Oct. 26 in the WC gymnasium. Tip is scheduled for 7 p.m. Even though the game will not officially count, it will be a rematch of the 2011 GCAA championship game in which the Swamp Foxes used a second half surge to defeat the Mariners, 68-62, to capture their first ever conference title. The team opens its regular season Nov. 3 at home against the Martinique National Team. During their preparations for the 2011-2012 season, some of the Swamp Foxes had a chance to meet some of their youngest and biggest fans during the very first “Meet the Swamp Foxes” event (first photo). WC’s women’s softball team (second photo) couldn’t attend “Meet the Swamp Foxes” because of a makeup scrimmage against Georgia Southern in Statesboro. The softball players will be in their pink and black uniforms at Wednesday’s basketball scrimmage to meet the Swamp Fox fans and to show their support for Breast Cancer Awareness Month. The softball team will participate in a round robin scrimmage Nov. 12 at the Trembling Earth Complex in Waycross.
Waycross College has been a proud member of the University System of Georgia since the College’s founding in 1976.
