The National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) has announced that Cory Baldwin, head men’s basketball coach at Waycross College, is the District 13 Coach of the Year.
The award was presented at a banquet honoring the 16 teams that will participate in the NJCAA Men’s Basketball Tournament, which begins today in Hutchinson, Kan.
“This may be labeled ‘Coach of the Year’, but it is an award that honors the entire team and coaching staff,” said Baldwin after learning of the honor.
Baldwin has compiled a 43-20 record in only two seasons as the Swamp Foxes’ head coach, which included a 26-7 record this season and the GCAA Tournament Championship in the team’s first year of postseason eligibility.
According to the NJCAA, District 13 is comprised of the teams in the GCAA, which include Albany Tech, Atlanta Metro, College of Coastal Georgia, Chattahoochee Tech, East Georgia College, Georgia Perimeter, Gordon College, Middle Georgia College, South Georgia Tech, and Waycross College.
The Swamp Foxes will face the tenth-ranked Wabash Valley College Warriors in the first round of the NJCAA Tournament today. Tip for the game is scheduled for 1 p.m. (EST).
