ASC tutor helping a student.

General Information

The Waycross College Academic Support Center offers a relaxed atmosphere where students can work on projects, get help with classes, meet with
Academic Support Center Tutors Spring 2005
instructors, or just relax. We have computers, both PC's and Mac's, for use in Word Processing, student e-mail, internet access, and various specialized course-related computer programs. There are also instructional aids for English, reading, math, science, humanities, foreign languages, as well as practice tests for the Regents' test, and C.P.E. math and reading tests. If you require personalized attention, you can turn to our staff of student tutors for assistance in most courses.

However, the A.S.C. is not just a place you go when in need of help. We also have a large variety of periodicals, novels, and board games for students to read and relax between classes. Although talking is permitted and encouraged in the A.S.C., we do ask that everyone keep noise to a minimum, and please do not bring small children. The A.S.C. is located in Building A inside the Library.

Stop in to use our new state-of-the art flatscreen desktop computers.

Testing Lab

The Testing Lab is a division within the Academic Support Center. As the name implies, it is a place where tests are given for almost any subject. The lab is staffed by Waycross College instructors and the hours are limited and subject to change. Students, please check lab hours to verify that the lab is open when planning your schedule.  Use of the testing lab is a privilege determined by each individual instructor.

The Tutors

Our student tutors must possess a 3.0 overall G.P.A. and be recommended by previous instructors. Some tutors are especially proficient in math, others in English, and some are excellent in both. If you need help in a particular subject, don't be afraid to ask which tutor might best be able to help, then make an appointment with that tutor.

The ASC has something new to offer you. If you are at home or away from school, and would like assistance in math, English, or general chemistry, e-mail us with your questions at aschelp@waycross.edu. This service will be available Monday - Thursday, 9:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. You should receive a response within one hour.
