What This Unit Is All About

General Educational Goals
This curriculum web is being developed by an administrative professional in post-secondary education whose degress is in Middle Grades Education. This concern derived from personal experiences that enlightened her to pursue college. The developer of this curriculum web feels as if at-risk middle school students and their parents need encouragement for them to pursue post-secondary education. The general activites will focus on academic and outreach initiatives in the community and surrounding areas.

Plan for Assessment and Evaluation
There are several ways to assess each student throughout the unit; however,
often , it is not with a grade.
1. Students will be ranked in need according to parent’s educational background
and income status, if available.
2. Students will be assessed on test scores, and if improvements need to be
made, they will be assessed.
3. Students will be given a passing or failing score on the completion of a
college application.
4. Students will be given a passing or failing score on the information found
regarding financial aid procedures.
Teachers using this unit can base the activities with current QCC objectives from the appropriate grade level and subject that the unit is tied into. All assessments are not meant to be graded, but they are meant to be used as a guide by the instructor to allow them to learn about their interests for college.
